Barbara Huey, Head Coach
Barbara was born and raised in Summit, NJ, and started swimming at the Summit YMCA at age 7. She swam throughout her school years with the YMCA, a local summer league and the high school team, then continued on to Penn State where she graduated with her BS. She has been coaching swimming since 1980 during her college years, then started working in Human Resources, where she continued to coach part time at HCY & Summit YMCA. Barbara coached for five years at the Division I college level (NC State, University of Miami, Union College) from 1991- 1996 during which time she received her Masters in Recreation and Sports Psychology. She is starting her 13th season at HCY, 10th year as Head Coach. She also oversees the summer team at HCY. She is married to David Huey and has two sons, Erik, age 13, and Samuel, 11.
JT Campbell
JT grew up in Richland, PA, and swam for the East Hills Swim Club and the Richland High School. He started teaching lessons at age 11! He attended Morris Harvey College in West Virginia, swam and played water polo, making the All Conference water polo team. He has worked for the Hunterdon Developmental Center in Aquatics for the past 20+ years and also served as a Boys Scouts Aquatics Director. JT has been working at the HCY for the past 10 years in varied positions including Special Olympics coach, swim team coach, lesson instructor and lifeguard instructor. JT attended a training camp while in High School run by the legendary “father” of swimming, “Doc” Counsilman, whose theories and principles still hold true today.
Christi Cortright
Christi grew up in Iowa and started swimming at the age of 5 for the community swim team. She swam competitively through high school and began teaching swimming lessons at age 16 at the local pool. Christi attended the University of Iowa and received her Bachelors Degree in non-teaching Physical Education. In 1997, she also received her National Certification to be a Massage Therapist and has been actively doing Massage since then. Christi has been working with some members of the HCY team with regard to massage and sport injuries. She has been lesson instructor for the HCY for 17 years and is starting her 9th season as an HCY coach. She is married to David Cortright.
Carolyn Hanczaryk
Carolyn grew up in Verona, NJ and started swimming at the age of 10 for the Verona Swim Team. While in high school and college, she began teaching swimming lessons for Verona Community Pool in Verona, NJ and the Cabana Club in West Orange, NJ. At the Cabana Club, she ran the swimming program for 2 summers. In college, she swam competitively for Montclair State College swimming distance and fly. Her senior year she was captain of the team. After working in sales and training new sales reps for many years, she is ready to get back to swimming and coaching the Stingrays! She is married to Paul and has two boys, Sean who is 9 and Danny who is 6.
Gabrielle Ingalls MacQueen
Gabrielle swam for the Stingrays for 8 years. She went to Voorhees High School where she was a varsity swimmer all four years and captain her senior year. During college Gabrielle coached the Washington, NJ, summer swim team. She graduated from Salisbury University in Maryland with a B.S. in elementary education & now teaches 2nd grade in Clinton Township. Gabrielle is looking forward to an exciting season with the Stingrays! She was married to Drew MacQueen in summer, 2008!
Elyse Linfante
Elyse swam competitively for the HCY Stingrays for 12 years. She is a graduate of Voorhees High School and swam for the high school team where earned her varsity letter all four years and was a captain her senior year. Elyse is currently a junior at Rider University where she will earn a degree in Elementary Education. This will be Elyse’s second winter coaching and has also been coaching during the summers. She is looking forward to another great season with the team!
Caitlin Thompson
Cait was born in Fairfax, Virginia and started swimming at the early age of ten months! She relocated to New Jersey with her family and swam competitively with the HCY swim team. She graduated from Hunterdon Central Regional High School where she was a swimmer and swim team statistician. Cait has also served as a life guard and swim instructor for the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Center and the Hunterdon County YMCA. Cait’s love for the Adirondacks and the outdoors has led her to summer work as a junior counselor and property staff member for an all-girl camp on Upper Saranac Lake, New York. She has her New York State Joint Pilot and Engineer Boating License and is often seen zooming around the lake with campers in tow or rescuing stranded sailors! Cait is currently attending her junior year at Rutgers University where she plans to double major in Political Science and Women and Gender Studies, and minor in Sociology. This fall Cait will become an Eagleton Institute political science intern where she will be teaching New Brunswick High School students about civic involvement, while maintaining her coaching duties.
Chris Thompson
Chris is a Rutgers University graduate, with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education. She later earned her Masters Degree in Counseling Services from Rider University. She began her 20+ year coaching career while still a Rutgers student, joining the North Brunswick Township High School Swim Team Staff for three years. After receiving her undergraduate degree, she was employed for 10 years at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School, as a Health and Physical Education teacher, later accepting the challenge to become a Guidance Counselor. During her tenure at WW-P, she coached the boys and girls high school swim team for 8 years, with both teams earning Mercer County and Conference championship honors each year. The girl’s team also earned three Group IV state championship titles. In addition to coaching swimming, Chris was the Head Coach of the WW-P Girl’s Spring Track Team, earning “Coach of the Year” honors from the “Princeton Packet” newspaper. Chris left WW-P in 1997 to raise her family. Chris and her husband Rick have been kept quite busy with their three children, Matt 14, Sophia 11 and Sam 8. Chris, however, continues to find time for coaching - this will be her 11th season with the HCY Stingray program, and she eagerly awaits the upcoming season.
Deanna Vannucci
Deanna swam competitively with HCY for 8 years before graduating in 2006 from Hunterdon Central High School. She swam on the varsity team there for four years and was captain her last year. It is her second year coaching in the winter but has coached during the past few summers. She is happy to be “home” on the pool deck again! Deanna is currently a Junior at Rutgers University in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and is majoring in Food Science with a minor in Nutrition.
Danielle Weber
Danielle grew up in High Bridge, NJ where she currently resides. She had been swimming since the age of 5 and has taught swim lessons since the age of 14. She recently graduated from Kutztown University with a degree in Elementary Education. Danielle has been employed by the YMCA for 7 years working at Camp Carr, the After School Program, teaching swim lessons, and lifeguarding. This is Danielle’s first year coaching the HCY Stingrays and she is very excited to be a part of the team.
