GET INVOLVED AS A YMCA VOLUNTEER – WE NEED YOU!
At the YMCA, your time and talent go a long way. Volunteers are the heart of our organization, and all YMCAs are volunteer founded, volunteer based, and volunteer led. By becoming a volunteer you are helping us to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
Everyone has something to give – whether it’s time, wisdom, talent, financial support or caring! By giving you help us accomplish miracles and improve the community we live in.

We provide many meaningful ways for you to make a unique, lasting, positive contribution. We have volunteer opportunities in the following areas:
Policy Volunteers – people who serve on YMCA boards and committees, such as Public Relations/Marketing, Human Resources, Properties, Program, Membership, Finance
Fund-Raising Volunteers – the Y never turns anyone away due to inability to pay, and as a result we have a Strong Kids campaign each year that helps to subsidize programming, childcare and memberships for those who need assistance. Without the help of our dedicated fundraising volunteers, we would struggle to assist as many individuals and families that we do.
Support/Administrative Volunteers – these are people who help us keep the YMCA running by helping out in the office.
Program Volunteers – people who have direct contact with members who help deliver programs and services in the following areas:
- Membership Services - greeters
- Aquatics – Swim lessons, Swim Team, Special Olympics
- Youth Sports – Gymnastics, Dance, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Lacrosse
- Adventure Guides
- Special Events – Annual Golf Outing, Dinner, Comedy Night and Branch events
- Childcare – assist at our Child Watch, School Age Childcare Program and Daycare Center
- Teen Programs
- S.W.I.M., Inc. – serves adults with muscular impairment. Assist members with arrival and departure, at poolside, in the locker room or at social time. Contact Eleanor Kover, (732)

Volunteer Spotlight
Megan O'Brien, Summer Child Watch Volunteer
According to Megan, “Volunteering in the Child Watch Room at the YMCA was a perfect way to spend my summer. I got to work with many great people and play with many incredible kids. It was a memorable experience and I hope to continue volunteering at the Y. I can’t wait until I come back in the summer!”
